The lake Šmartinsko jezero is water that the RD Celje is particularly proud of. The lake is relatively young. It was made in 1970 in order to prevent the city of Celje from the high waters of the north. The lake was meant to be used for technical purposes for Celje's industry but it never came to life due to the lack of rentabilty. The lake today has 113 ha of water surfaces and belongs to the biggest reservoirs in Slovenia.
The town of Celje bought all the rights to fish in 1907. Since then the society went through many stages untill 1952 when we officially became the fishing family Celje. Today we have our own quarters on Čopova street 19 in Celje and the fishing newsletter.Our official hours are : Tuesday from 8:00 to 12:00 and Thursday 8:00 to 12:00 and from 17:00 to 19:00.
