Šempeter is a nice place in the middle of the valley Savinjska dolina and the clear river Savinja and its tributaries run straight through it. The RD Šempeter has been successfully managing its waters for years and they offer you fly fishing for graylings, brown trouts and huchens in their rivers and creeks. But they also have some great waters for float fishing of barbels, chubs, common nases and Danube roaches. In their lakes, ponds and reservoirs you can fish for carps, grass carps, rainbow trouts, zanders and pikes. The fishing environment of the RD Šempeter spreads on 108ha of recreational fishing waters and 22ha of protected waters. The recreational fishing waters managed by the family are Savinja 6 and 7 and are salmonid-cyprinid districts. Besides fishing on the Savinja's main current you can also fish in tributaries Bolska 26, Motnišnica 27 and Ložnica 32. If the river waters are too high there is always fishing in the ponds Preserje 1, Preserje 2, Preserje 4 and  the lake Braslovče. The ponds are home to cyprinids but also to some predatory fish like zanders and pikes.
