The sports-fishing district of the drying up lake Cerkniško jezero consists of the western part of the lake and is cyprinid in character. Fishing area is 837 ha but it varies due to drying up and filling up of the lake. When the water levels are low, you can only fish on the pond behind Rešeto-an area of 9 ha.
The lake Cerkniško jezero is home mostly to some first class pikes, chubs, tenches and carps. Fly fishing for huge common rudds and cautious perches has been very popular lately ; these fish can grow up to 50cm here.
An ideal water level to fish on the lake Cerkniško jezero without a boat is below 200cm.
