The river Bistrica flows through the city of Ribnica. Its channel follows the walls of the fishing castle and the banks of Gallusovo nabrežje. It also flows under many bridges: the bridge between Škrabčev trg and the fishing castle, the bridge Francoski most ( it was built during the time of illyric provinces), the road bridge as well as under the footbridge in the vicinity of the church of Saint Stephen. The Bistrica is home for nice specimens of brown trouts, graylings and chubs.
